An update..

We have been exploring a bit on the weekends...We went down to Kangaba and stayed at Fanta Camera's "bed and breakfast"...and we returned to spend a night in Siby and visit the Siby Waterfall - our favorite weekend spot. And thought i'd include a few other pictures for your pleasure :)

A street scene in Bamako...down the street from our house...

On s'est vraiment regale chez Fanta Camera!! The "bed and breakfast" we stayed at!

Wow...Plage?? A Mali...??? Trop cool! It was actually just sandy dirt in front of the Niger river...but nice all the same.

Olivier decides to jump on a donkey cart in Kangaba.. to the great amusement of Kangaba inhabitants!

Olivier et Monica...enjoying a sunset on the Niger

Back to Bamako!

Our front yard blooming with bouganvilla - notice my basil that grew on the right hand side!

We have both arrived safely in Bamako...and are happy to find the weather cool and even chilly at night! Not quite Tahoe weather - but pretty cold for Mali. We've had a few requests for updated photos of the house now that its been painted and we finally got curtains.

The End of our US Tour!

Enjoying our New Years Eve in DC!

Happy New Year - Bonne Annee! I thought I'd post our US pictures and fill you all in what we did after San Francisco! After a last day in San Francisco, visiting the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, we traveled to Williamsburg to spend Christmas with Monica's family...It was a great time to relax, open a few presents and eat well! Then we spent a day in the DC area with Monica's brother, sister-in-law and little niece Ella! After that we drove to New Jersey - just 30 minutes from New York City - and had a third Christmas celebration with Monica's aunts, uncles and cousins! Next we went to visit New York city and stayed with Monica's friends Nikki and Dan who live right in Manhattan. We had a great time! We took the Chinatown bus back to DC to spend New Years eve there before Olivier flew out on January 1st. We have a ton of pictures...I picked out some of the better ones for you to browse!
